NEAR OAMARU - NEW ZEALAND [1163 NZ] I took this shot on our way back from the Kakanui River while staying at John and Betsy's farmhouse near Oamaru. That is a Merino wool sheep, one of many soon to be sheared. We just had an unusual snow storm which made for some spectacular scenery.MOUNT COOK [3085 NZ] We were up early racing to a river near Twizel on an unusually clear and sunny day. 'Hey, is that Mt. Cook?' 'I don't know. I think so. In the 6 years that I've been here I've never seen it.' 'Pull over, please.'STOP [1151 NZ] We were stopped for a few minutes during bridge repair. Most of the bridges on the South Island are one-way so we also had to wait for the cars from the other side to pass. These buildings, with their bright colored doors matching the color of the telephone pole, were on the side of the road so I figured I'd pass the time by taking a photo.THE CORNER STORE - GORE [1240 NZ]MOEREKI BOULDERS [1164 NZ] These boulders did not look nearly this spectacular while we were there. This shot was taken by Larry during a previous trip. The soft mudstone containing the boulders was raised from the sea bed around 15 million years ago and sea erosion of the cliff is exposing the erosion-resistant boulders. The best time to photograph the boulders is at low-tide, usually around 1pm. In the distance is the town of Moereki. While in Moereki, we dined at Fleurs, some of the best seafood in New Zealand. It was started by Fleur Sullivan, known for opening the renowned Olivers Restaurant in Clyde. After a fight with cancer, Fleur moved to Moereki to be close to her mother and the sea. Gwyneth Paltrow ate there and apparently (?) liked the town so much she offered to buy it (eeeh gads).OMARAMA [1150 NZ]OAMARU [1169 NZ] This was the view as we drove back from the river to John and Betsy's farmhouse near Oamaru.THE ROAD TO NOWHERE [1228 NZ] This is the stretch of road from Roxburgh to Ranfurly, where you can buy some cool art deco stuff. No other cars were on the road and it seemed to go on forever.LUPINS [1252 NZ]BIRDS OVER THE WHITESTONE [4052 NZ]THE AHURIRI - OMARAMA [1172 NZ]TE ANAU RAINBOW [1234 NZ] The hub of the Fiordland region is the town of Te Anau.
