HIGH CAMP VIEW - ACONCAGUA, ARGENTINA [3004 AR] Aconcagua, the Sentinel of Stone, is the highest mountain in the western hemisphere. According to some international climbing experts, the 22,841 feet of Aconcagua represent, psychologically and physiologically, several hundred meters more. In the Himalayas there is vegetation until 16,500 feet (5,000 meters). In the central Andes mountains there is only vegetation until 11,500 feet (3500 meters). The relative humidity of the air is very low.
