NORWAY [1020 NO] Gustav Vigeland was born in 1869 in the south-coast town of Mandal in Norway. The Sculpture Park in Oslo contains 192 sculptures with more than 600 figures, all modeled in full size by Vigeland without the assistance of pupils or other artists. Vigeland also designed the architectural setting and the layout of the grounds. Work began on the construction of this outstanding Renaissance castle in 1574, and its defenses were reinforced according to the canons of the period's military architecture in the late 17th century. It has remained intact to the present day. It is world-renowned as Elsinore, the setting of Shakespeare's Hamlet.DENMARK WINDOW [6000 DE]GAMLA STAN WINDOWS - STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN [6010 SW] Gamla Stan, founded in the 13th century, means Old Town in Swedish. These windows are on the buildings in Stortorget (Big Square), Stockholm's oldest center and site of the 1520 execution of several political opponents.
